Tobacco Control Regulations, 2016 (L.I. 2247)
Regulation 1:
These regulations are in furtherance of
(a) provisions on tobacco control specified in the Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 851); and
(b) the objectives, principles, and provisions of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control and its Guidelines for Implementation in order to reduce continually and substantially the prevalence of tobacco use and exposure to tobacco smoke.
Procedure to Follow
Sales Restrictions
1. The law prohibits the sale of tobacco products via vending machine, the internet, and in educational facilities, stadiums, healthcare facilities, amusement parks, and movie theatres.
2. Sale of single cigarettes, small packets of cigarettes, and smokeless tobacco in unit packages weighing less than 30 grams is prohibited.
3. Tobacco products should not be sold in cultural facilities.
4. The sale of tobacco products is prohibited to persons under the age of 18....
