Merchant Shipping (Pilot Ladders) Rules, 1963 L.I 302
Class IX.—Tugs, tenders, launches, lighters, dredgers and hoppers (other than ships of Classes Il and VIll) which are employed within home trade limits and proceed beyond smooth water limits.
Class X.—Tugs, tenders, launches, lighters, dredgers and hoppers (other than ships of Classes IV, V and VI) which do not proceed beyond smooth water limits.
Class XI.—Fishing boats other than ships of Classes I to VI inclusive.
Class XII.—Pleasure yachts other than ships of Classes I to VI inclusive exceeding 15 tons.
EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This Note is not part of the Rules, but is intended to indicate their general purport).
These Rules arrange ships into classes and require the provision of pilot ladders in ships of certain classes, and includes such requirements as appear to the Minister to implement the provisions of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1948, relating to pilot ladders.
