COCOA INDUSTRY (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1968 L.I 586
Regulation 1:
1. The Cocoa Industry Regulations, 1958 (L.N. 220) are hereby Cocoa amended•as follows :— Regulations,Industry
(a) in regulation 2 thereof by the substitution for the defini- amended.1958 tion of the expression "to adulterate" of the following new definition :—
" 'to adulterate' with its grammatical variations
(l) to mix or combine with any cocoa which falls within Grade I or Grade Il cocoa as defined in regulation 13 of these Regulations,
(a) any cocoa which is damp or contains foreign matter or smoky beans, or
(b) any sub-standard cocoa, or
(c) any foreign matter, or
(d) any black and decayed or rotten beans which are popularly known in cocoa growing areas as "atowuo" or "abinkyi";
(2) to mix or combine with any cocoa which falls within Grade I cocoa as defined in regulation 13 of these Regulations, any cocoa which falls within Grade Il cocoa as so defined:
Provided that for the purposes of these Regulations any cocoa shall (without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing) be treated as adulterated if if consists wholly or partly of— (i) damp or smoky beans or
(ii) black and decayed or rotten beans popularly known in cocoa growing areas as "atowuo" or S'abinkyi" or
(iii) sub-standard cocoa as defined in regulation 13 of.these Regulations".
(b) in regula!ion 3 thereof—
(i). by the substitution for paragFaph (a) of sub-regulation (3), of the following new paragraph :— "(a) stored on gratings or deckings made with seasoned wood which allow at least six inches air space above the ground or the floor" and by the substitution for paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (4), of the following new paragraph :— "(a) the cocoa is stored on gratings or deckings made with seasoned wood which allow at least three inches air space above the floor."
(c) by the substitution for regulation Il thereof, of the following new regulation
